Astigmatismo

Astigmatismo from Troshinsky on Vimeo.

Hi friends. I saw this short today and thought I should share it. I really enjoyed how it played with depth of field. It’s cute and doesn’t meander too much like animated shorts can often do.

Hi! It’s an interesting video, for sure. Thanks for sharing. I have to say that the randomness of it sort of makes me not want to watch it till the end. Also, the constant zooming in and out seems more for arty purposes than to increase the storyline or watchability.

What about the video do you particularly enjoy?

You say “arty” like it’s a bad thing. I definitely think there’s value in artistic films and ones without narrative structure. Playing with the depth of field in this animation is actually more than just a stylistic element, it contributes to the tone of the short: amplifying the feeling of being lost without glasses. Obviously I think this is very watchable or I wouldn’t have posted it, and clocking in at only 4 minutes, there’s hardly time to get bored with something this well crafted.
