LA Vegan Beer Fest
In case you hadn’t seen all the photos from the LA Vegan Beer Fest over on Quarrygirl, I have a few more to add to the lot. It was the quintessential summer event here in Los Angeles as the weather just decided to finally warm up. We didn’t get as crazy as last year but it was tons of fun. There were lots of superb beers and good times.
I started out with a bbq “pulled pork” sandwich from Seabirds made with jackfruit. We also had to have their infamous beer battered avocado tacos. Have I mentioned how much I love Seabirds? Love them so much.
So possibly my favorite beer of the day was the Brother Thelonius from North Coast Brewing Co. It is rich with a full flavor and just my style.
Coincidentally our friend Jenny volunteered at the North Coast booth, so we were back a few times.
And of course, veteran beer drinkers, Kyle & Jannatha were there, ready to flex their beer consumption skills.
We chatted a little bit with Trina from Your Vegan Mom and her husband Paul who we haven’t seen in forever and ever.
More beer was consumed. Much more.
I also highly enjoyed the orange wheat from Hangar 24. It was nice and light and great for the hot day.
We hung out with Christina from Unhealthy Vegans & Diana. I tried to convince them that Belgian beers are actually amazing.
We had some mega-banh mi from Mandoline Grill.
So good.
Going to this event was like going to a big party that someone else threw, but tons of people that you know showed up. Tina on the right above did my hair for Shawn and my wedding. Small town Los Angeles. It’s weird sometimes.
We all snagged the last of the Frankens. Yum!
And then it was over…
You’ll never guess where we went afterward.
I can’t wait till the next one.
such fun times, great pics!
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! this post makes me so happy. thanks for coming and having a great time. <3
Oh, your shot of the Frankens. I used to love bratwurst and haven’t really been into any of the pre-packaged substitutes but now that it’s summer I might have to try my hand at making some. That looks so good! I think I would have a really good time at a vegan beer fest as I got hooked on good beer a few years ago. I never really enjoyed alochol or the taste and had a few piddly American beers but then when I went to a brewery, WORLD of difference. I love a good Belgian beer, woohoo.
yayayayay! it was a great day and i LOVED seeing you guys!!!! so much fun 🙂
Dude, I am so jealous of this post. I’m moving to Portland, OR at the end of the year, and hope we have jobs secure by this time next year so that we’re able to visit LA for the Vegan Beer Fest.
Love the photos. Thanks for sharing!
if it makes you feel better, i’m totally jealous that you’re moving to Portland. i LOVE it there and want to move.
although obviously LA has it’s perks. 🙂
Looks like such a fun event. i definitely want to try and go next year when I’m home. Great photos too, the food looks delicious.
NEXT YEAR I AM SOOOO GOING. let the countdown begin 🙂
