Hodge-podge

I have so much to tell you! I’ve been completely consumed with crafting for holiday presents. I’m attempting to wrap all my gifts in reusable gift bags this year. That means that even for the gifts I’m not making, there’s still a bit of work put in to each one. The worst part is, I can’t even show off the gifts I’ve made yet in case any of the recipients read this blog. Don’t worry though, I’ll have some recaps after the holidays with some reviews and such.

Besides the hours devoted to sewing and the like, I do have some exciting news. Cupcakes from Vegan Bake Sale are now available at Meet Market in Silverlake. I just delivered the first order of Cookies & Cream, Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Spice cupcakes. Go get some! It will probably be your last chance before the holidays.

This year is going to be my cats’ first Christmas living with us. They’re loving all the boxes they get to play with (and a few catnip treats). It’s like cardboard box heaven for them. We adopted Meeme and Mochi on January 3rd of this year and they make me happy every single day. Seriously. I love them so much. Part of the reason I want to bring this up is that LA animal services is offering 50% off adoption fees for the holidays. Not that the fees are even very high to begin with, but it’s just that much more incentive to open your home and heart to one of these animals in need. If you’re considering getting an animal this year, I urge you to turn to the public animal shelters as these are usually the animals at highest risk of being put down. Not to mention they make it extremely easy for you to adopt.

Oh there’s so much more to say, but it will have to wait a little while still. Till then…

Your gift bags are gorgeous, I can’t wait to see the gifts you made! I’m packaging all my gifts in re-useable bags too but I’ve had to buy them as I’m nowhere near talented enough with a needle & thread to make my own, maybe next year!

I will say that making these bags is about as easy as it gets as far as simple sewing projects. And when all else fails, there’s always hot glue!

I love those gift bags! I am officially inspired. Luckily I haven’t gotten around to wrapping anything yet, so I can still make the reusable bags.

    Your kitty is a cutie.

Those gift bags are awesome! …I need to get myself a sewing machine one of these days.
Meeme and Mochi are the sweetest, and make me want to adopt a kitten or two myself. Maybe this year… if I can convince Tyler that they won’t destroy his records.

I can’t wait for the follow-up post that reveals what’s in those gorgeous gift bags!

Thanks for spreading the word about pet adoption. Adopting Bo and his twin brother from the local shelter just over 19 years ago was the best thing that’s happened to me. Hopefully there will be a slew of animals currently living in shelters who get happy forever homes this season.

  7. GREAT post! Your Christmas presents are so adorable, I love the wrapping! And oooh I want some of your cupcakes, pumpkin spice is one of my favorite flavors. Pumpkin anything, really!

Awww kitties! We were adopted by a stray cat last year and now, after a lifetime of being a die hard dog person, I’m also a cat person too. Her aloof disdain of me is irresistible.

i have always been a cat person, but our cats are more cuddly and affectionate than any cats i’ve ever seen. i guess they forgot they’re supposed to be sneaky and independent.

I’m so impressed with your crafty-ness. I haven’t sewn since my junior high home ec class! And your cats are so beautiful. Those pictures are amazing.
