happy day

Hello friends and happy President’s Day. Hopefully many of you have the day off and are enjoying an extra long weekend. I certainly am.

A few weeks ago I mentioned that Cute and Delicious would be getting a makeover. This is something I’ve been wanting for what seems like forever. Unfortunately, my design and coding skills are basically non-existent, while at the same time I’m very particular. Because of this, the blog has been looking pretty grim for the past few months as I’d rather it look like nothing than something silly. Lucky for me (and for you) the redesign is nearly here.

That means tomorrow Cute and Delicious will have a totally new look. Yay!

p.s. if you’re browsing around today, please excuse any strangeness as I’ve got a bit of housekeeping to do before the launch.

one year

This weekend is our one year anniversary. It seems like our wedding was not so long ago, but it also feels like so much has happened this year. I don’t think I’m ready to give up the title of newlyweds. Everything is still pretty magical.

I can’t wait to see what the next year has is store and the many years after that too.

If you never saw our wedding at the natural history museum, you can see it here, here and here.

Happy long weekend to everyone.

Vaute Couture coat

It’s not often that I get really excited about an item of clothing. Fashion just isn’t my area of expertise; I’m more of an admirer from afar. Yet, when I saw the Vaute coat from Vaute Couture, I fell in love. Not only was it stunning, but I was in desperate need of a warm winter coat. Let me tell you, it is not easy to find a fashionable, well made coat that isn’t made from wool or down. Amazingly, my mom thought the coat was great too, and in a effort to keep me warm during my travels, she gifted it to me for my birthday & Christmas. (Thanks mom!)

Now having worn this coat in the hustle and bustle of New York city, the calm cool of the Pennsylvania countryside and a Park City snow storm, I can say with confidence, this coat is the best. I was never cold or wet, even walking in the freezing snow. When I spilled a cup of coffee on myself on the subway, the coat came out unharmed (hooray for waterproof fabric). And most importantly, I looked good the whole time.

I genuinely LOVE this coat. I sort of wish it was winter all the time so I could wear it all the time.

Extra personal bonus, matching my husband.

And just in case there was any question, I am in no way affiliated with Vaute Couture, nor did I receive anything for this post.
I genuinely just love this coat.

Mantels

I have to admit that I still have our holiday decorations up on our mantel. Since it’s more winter themed than holiday specific, it’s not so bad, but it has been 80 degrees and sunny so it’s time to start figuring out what’s next. Previously we had our mantel decorated with these terrariums, but I think I’d like to put a little more thought into it.

How pretty are these mantels? Up top is at Shawn’s sister Missy‘s house. I love the natural and rustic style. I’m particularly fond of how the rocks and fossils are displayed (as we have quite a few ourselves). My favorite part is the little modern owl.

I also am a big fan of this mantel from Shawn’s aunt & uncles house. Mainly I just love the artwork; it is really showcased but everything also to flows together. I think my previous mantel decor has been seriously lacking in the height department. Not to mention I would love to have some sort of garland, of course on a smaller everyday scale. Oh and again with the adorable modern animals. Those deer are just stunning.

Now to figure out how to combine the two…
